The beers are too small, but the bricks bring that nostalgia to Legoland California But also... where the hell were ya'll when I was a kid?

Well, well, well, gather round ya’ll, because your boy finally made it to the brick house Mecca itself.

Destination? The outrageously beautiful melting pot of primary colors and plastic brick magnificence known as Legoland, California. Spoiler alert: it’s as chaotic and beautiful as it sounds.

Am I too old? maybe, sure

Did I enjoy it more than the Boss? Absolutely

Do I regret it? NEVER.

As a lifelong Lego fan who recently returned to building, I thought I was prepared prepared for this world made of tiny, interlocking bricks? I was wrong.

Nothing could have prepared me for the scale of these beloved brick spectacles, that sit around every corner at Legoland California. Moreover, Miniland USA, is anything but mini and really makes you re-think your own Lego City choices.

Me: No man, there’s no way I can build that. (said over and over).

Our favorite part was obviously the trash trucks.

My kids, bless their cotton socks, lost their minds. My daughter, who isn’t allowed near the Lego table at home, made sure she touched as many bricks as we’d let her

Legoland was fun, but the Water Park was mandatory!

After we spent the morning riding the kid rides. Yes parents, these are not your run of the mill thrill coasters. And they are largely not your thematically driven, immersive ride experiences. They are rides for children, fashioned to look like kids toys, it’s fun. After The Boss and I pounded our $12-10oz beers, we headed to the water park. If you’re in Carlsbad in later July thru August, the park hopper ticket is a no brainer. You’re welcome.

Once the park closed, we headed back to our temporary residence at MarBrisa Resort.

It’s a timeshare type resort, if that’s not a turn off, I’d say it’s great for a night or two specifically with kids. They have three pools with people who brought me beer, a water slide (they allow up to 300lbs), poolside pool tables, ping pong and that gigantic ass lawn Connect 4, they had a wooden one that was slightly warped. They are definitely more pleasing to the eye, but as a parent, I prefer things that can take a beating like this.
