Welcome to MillennialDadding!

My name is Jason and I’ll be your host, adventure guide and author. If you already know the deal head over to my blog posts where I’ll be sharing my dadding adventures.

I didn’t choose the dad life, the dad life chose me.
– Zeus (…maybe)

The Elevator Pitch:

This blog is a husband/father’s attempt at providing a more comfortable living situation for his family. I’m motivated by the royal we; that’s me, the Boss (my wife), the petri-dishes (6 y/o son, 2 y/o daughter) and our 13 year old box/pity mix rescue. I’m not in this for the fame just the money and as such I won’t be parading the rest of my wolfpack around in cringe worthy videos.

What can you expect to see here:

I’ll be writing about interests, hobbies and adventures. Topics are likely to include but not exclusively be: culinary related, toys (aka Dad reliving his childhood), DIY incompetence, adventures, and general nonsense. If you like what you see, I’m glad I’ve hit a cord. If you’re offended by my posts, shenanigans or POVs, I’m sorry you’re soft. This is not the place to get tissues for your issues. We don’t have to agree across the board, but we do need to respect one another and treat each other with kindness and compassion, at the very least indifference(?).

Origin Story:

As with all stories, I suppose I should start at the beginning of my own adventure. I was a late 80’s baby and grew up spending my days outside skating through the Los Angeles suburbs. I was raised on a healthy combination of punk rock, West Coast jams and Sour Patch Kids. Having a hippy dippy mother and an old school Italian Jew dad, I grew up dealing with life’s problems in nature or on the sports field. Soooo…I spent my youth battling every single undiagnosed ADHD impulse I had. By the time I was twelve years old there were three thing I knew thought to be true:

Soooo…I spent my youth battling every single undiagnosed ADHD impulse I had. By the time I was twelve years old there were three thing I knew thought to be true:

  1. I could not pass up an opportunity to get a boost of adrenaline or dopamine.
  2. I had very little idea what I wanted in life other than to have a good time.
  3. I did not think the dad / married life was going to be for me.

Fast forward 23 years –

  • I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from San Diego State.
  • Decided I needed more debt so I nabbed a masters in consumer insights/HR at USC
  • I’ve lived in Los Angeles, San Diego, the Netherlands and now residing in the San Fernando Valley
  • I’m married, a dad, with a 9 to 5 career but still haven’t found a situation I would say not to a shot with friends.
    • Unless it’s SoCo, Rum, Goldschläger or Jager….

Why start this blog

So with plenty of debt to pay down – thanks to the numerous loans for college and the house we bought – the goal here is to create a semi-passive income stream. If you too didn’t expect to be a dad, I hope his blog finds you and provides some ideas on how to add a bit more flair and fun to this wacky parenting adventure. If you’re not a parent, you might still find this blog useful (most likely as a form of birth control)
